Along the beach was a privately owned Amusement park. A beautiful little park that was perfect for an afternoon away or some evening fun. Attached to the park was a selection of water rides where Fluke worked as a life guard. (The certification was ridiculously easy for him and he was hired on the spot.) Rumor went around that he was only hired because of affirmative action, but his supervisor insisted he was hired because he was the best on for the job. He just happened to be the only full monster on staff.
Fluke loved his job. He loved the idea of keeping everyone safe and he got a bit of a rush when he actually did rescue someone. Nothing too serious had happened. Usually it was just kids who accidentally went a little too far out and got scared. Some human parents didn't like the idea of having a monster watch over their children. One child was in danger and his father refused to let Fluke rescue her and went in after her himself. Most parents who had a problem with him just stopped going altogether. Luckily, monster and monster supporters came to support him after word got around and business exploded. Fluke even had a small segment on the evening news. (His parents keep it on the DVR for any time a relative comes to visit) Once the haters stopped coming, Fluke was popular. Charasmatic and funny, even humans started telling him he was handsome. Everyone who worked at the park loved him! ...Well, almost everyone.
