♥ Species: Monster
♥ Occupation: Forest Protector (FOR MOTHER NATURE!!)
♥ Faceclaim: Lady of the Forest from Dragon Age: Origins

Strengths/Abilities
- Idaia can communicate with nature, more specifically the trees and plants around her. Her essence can connect with the nervous system of the trees and talk to them, feel the presence of others, and also know when the trees are in pain. She can also meld her body into trees and travel through their roots into a different location.
- She can control nature, make vines and roots grow to block off a path, or use them as weapons to defend herself. This requires her to be around an abundance of nature already, like in a forest for example.
- Idaia has chosen the form of a female humanoid, however she can morph into other shapes and is not limited to a specific gender. Another common shape of hers is a great white wolf with roots spiralling up the legs and decorating the back.
- Photosynthesis and water are literally the only two things Idaia needs to survive. She has no need for food, which allows her to have nearly endless amounts of energy when the sun is out. She can also store energy for later when the sun hides behind clouds or when she needs to be awake at night.
Inabilities/Weaknesses
- Idaia is physically weak. While her magic is strong (like many monster), her body is considerably weak. If you manage to find her and seclude her, she will not be able to defend herself against hostile attacks.
- Her skin is soft and frail, and requires trees to protect her from the brutal weather that happens on occasion. If she cannot protect herself via the trees, her survival during a blizzard or a hurricane will be severely diminished. During the winter, for example, Idaia will hibernate within a large, durable tree to ensure her survival.
- Fire is nature's enemy, as is Idaia's. Much like a plant, fire is her number one weakness in combat and ... well in just about any other scenario really. She will burn up much, much faster than anyone else, and fears the element greatly (sorry Grilbs).
- Human interaction is something she is not very used to, and will be very defensive around them. This can prove to be difficult to gain her aid or her trust if you are human.
- If she does not have enough sunlight, or not enough water, Idaia will become very tired and may possibly even die.
Personality
Idaia lacks a lot of social skills due to being hidden away inside of the forests for so long, but she does know how to speak ... in her own way. When approached, she can come off as otherworldly, cold, or even monotone. When with those she protects in the forest, a more kind and motherly side is shown on her as she cares deeply for the creatures that live with her. If angered, she will lash out violently and give the culprit a taste of mother nature. Given the chance, Idaia is a sweet monster that just wishes to protect her home from things like ill humans and fire.
Life Story
A long, long time a go humans and monsters lived on the Earth's surface together. Idaia was born in these times, her kind residing in the forests rather than the villages and cities the other monsters and humans stayed in. For a time, things for Idaia and her kind were peaceful and undisturbed, communicating with the outside world only when necessary. Her kind were one of the many tree monsters that lived in the forested areas, and therefor communicated with those other monsters.
On the day the monsters were driven away, however, was the day that undisturbed peace abruptly ended. The human took fire to their forests, burning down most of Idaia's home and her entire family with it. She managed to escape through a large oak tree, which connected her to many other untouched trees to allow her to flee.
She ended up in a forest outside of what is now called San Francisco, and overtime the forest she ended up in grew into a safe haven for the monsters who didn't make it underground, but who also didn't want to be destroyed by the violent humans. She became their protector, their 'Lady of the Forest.' She kept them all safe from threats led lost humans and their young safely back out again, and scared away malicious men who wished to destroy her newly claimed home.
When the monsters finally returned to the surface, Idaia remained in her forest away from humans and their urban societies. As word spreads of this new threat, the creature killing humans and leaving golden flowers in their wake, Idaia watches, listens, and waits.
Sample Roleplay
Limbs stretch out of a large oak tree as spring blooms into existence. A body, then a face, then her eyes open to see the world around her. How it has changed since she fell into her routine sleep, around the time it became too cold and too dangerous for her to remain outside. Some trees were missing from the forest, albeit very few. This was good, the tree entity thought. Other monsters that stayed there bowed their heads and greeted her. 'Lady of the Forest,' was what they called her. Others who have known her longer greeted her by her given name, Idaia.
As she travelled through the forest, the trees swayed with the wind and whispered to her of a small child in the area, one who had gotten lost there not long ago chasing after a small rabbit. A soft, gently chuckle echoed out of the entity as she moved through the network of tree roots to find this lost youngling, the trees guiding her on her way.
It was not long before Idaia found the lost one. A young girl sat on a stump weeping, wishing for her mother in between hiccups. The tree spirit thought a moment before growing a small, pink flower in front of the girl. For a moment, she stopped her crying to look at this fascinating plant before her. Then another, and another leading her on a trail back to civilization where a grateful mother waited for her child with open arms and tears of joy.
A smile formed on Idaia as she watched, briefly enjoying the sight before disappearing back into her home.
