Xander cracked his back as he threw on an apron and got ready for his upcoming shift. The store front was practically full so there wouldn't be much time to think before he had to dive head long into making drinks. At least today he had a hand other than Larry. Larry proved constantly that you shouldn't allow an eighteen year old to become management. What could he say? Being the co-owner's son had it's perks. Unfortunately for him Xander certainly wasn't in that position. He also wasn't in the position to argue either, so he humored the lad like it was a game. How many times could he make Larry mess up an order? How many wads of paper could he pelt Larry with before he notices? How long could he stick a "Kick ME" sign on Larry's back before someone actually tells him about it? He was good for one thing at least... Xander's amusement.
Those would all have to wait however as the mob of humanity and monster kind broke the plane of the front door and swarmed to the counter. "Alright folks, Carry out customers to the left, dine in customers to the right." The crowd parted like the red sea. Xander smirked. It was so easy sometimes. Some of these people would give up their souls for a quick fix of something, caffeine or otherwise. He looked to Larry. "Where's Matty Ice? I need a hand at the steamer." As par the usual Larry shrugged and was all the help Xander could ask for. "Yo, Matthias! Battle, Routine, SET. I need you at the pass."
The people began spouting out orders and Xander made the call. "Alright I need four Average Joes and two Shots in the Dark for Darren, I need two Average Joes and a Cocoa Beware for Sue, Two Caramel Machiatos for Dan and Three Cookie Dunks for Shawn, all to go!" Larry stared at him blankly until Xander moved to him and moved to where he was and they switched places. "Just take their orders and press the pretty buttons on the key pad." Xander sighed and started smashing drinks together. Today had already started off like a train wreck.

Words swam like fish through Matthias' unseasoned ears. He nearly finished his community language class, but when words were all mashed together like he just heard Xander say, things got mixed up. His speech was slow and slurry, making it easy to pick on him for that, and from past experience the monster learned to keep his mouth shut for certain things but, well... he couldn't do a job he didn't understand.
By process of elimination, Matthias figured that 'The Pass' was human slang for the eat-in line. Although, if it wasn't, he knew he'd have an earful and maybe another pay reduction. It was better to ask.
"Where.. is the.. pass?" asked the monster, getting Xander's attention.

Xander forgot all about that with Matthias. It wasn't his fault, Xander just got caught up in the moment. He let out a sigh and calmed himself. "Sorry bout that. Over here, Matthias." He was right, it was indeed the pick-up spot. "I'll pass the drinks off to you, you call out the name on the order and pass it to the customers. If anything's a mess up let ME know about it and I'll take care of it." He had to emphasize the "me" because he had zero hope for Larry. He gave Matthias a pat on the back and went back into the fray.
Xander took the first order and moved it along to Matthias. "Just take it easy, buddy. We'll get through this one way or another." The way he treated Matthias and Larry were polar opposites to one another, but that was all because Xander's sense of justice was one of a kind. Matthias was just trying to make a living like he was. Respect was pretty easy to get from Xander if you came from the right backgrounds. "Six for Darren, three for Sue, and two for Dan on Deck" Okay maybe his method of vernacular was a bit far fetched...He just didn't think about what he was saying most of the time with all the action going on.
