Xander wasn't usually keen into going to any of these, official monster ran joints, but it was always interesting what they picked up from humanity and had to offer them. This one place in particular was all the rage, a place created by one of the monsters of the underground that looked as if it's made it's transition brilliantly. This place was called "Grillby's"
It actually had a nice atmosphere. Kind of a "Cheers" vibe to it, though he was certain that no one would know his name. Xander was oh so careful from letting that get out. It was almost surreal as he walked in, seeing all of the monsters and humans together, just enjoying their food without a care of what was happening outside these walls. Didn't they know? They had to have heard about the anti-monster groups. What if they... No, he didn't want to think that, but it was so easy. Humanity is so predictable. What better way to put a dent in this happy union, then to make an example of when human/monster interaction succeeds? That having been said, it was a fine place.
Xander wasn't shy and passed up every booth along the way, right up to the counter and looked for a server. They seemed to be featuring a combo with "'Burgs" and fries. Wait... "'Burgs"? Why weren't they called hamburgers? This wasn't one of those niche vegan places was it? There was actually meat in them, right? Wait... where did monsters in the underground get cows for ground beef? Maybe this was a mistake... Xander started to regret his decision. "I'm going to end up eating something I might not want to know the origins about here."

A soft snort sounded from a back corner, and sharp fangs were bared in a dark grin.
"You are correct. A tip, stranger? Choose the fries." Amaranthine said with weary amusement, looking up slowly to appraise this newcomer. He gave on an... odd sort of energy, almost like his soul was cracked, or perhaps somehow tainted. A curiosity to be sure.
"What is your name?"

It was an odd thing to have someone so eager to be of service to him for a change... perhaps this was an employee? Well he had to commend her for her honesty. "I've probably bitten off more than I could chew." He smirked. "My name is on a need to know basis... I don't think that anyone who learns of it goes on forward quite the same, but if you are willing to sit down a bit and listen to my ramblings I'll give it to ya."
He pulled out the stool next to him and offered it to her.

The halfblooded mage moved from her position of lurking in the corner to sit on the stool with a sinuous grace, like a wild beast trapped in an almost human body. There was a great deal of energy tied up in her lean muscles, both magical and natural, and it showed in the way she moved. Crowded social ventures always made her anxious, but the possibility of talking to another being with an abnormal soul was too tempting to pass up.
He struck her as a rather dangerous individual, perhaps even one that had taken a life. A killer can often see themselves reflected in another's eyes, and however wary she might be, she could not deny a certain kinship with him. That did not mean she trusted him however - not by the long shot.
"I suppose I can respect that. A name is a powerful thing to simply give away. Less so now than in times past, but... well, I suppose I do understand, and you should not feel pressured to reveal it to me.I do not require a payment of any sort simply for conversation. You may call me Ammy."

Xander nodded in appreciation. "Trust is not one amenity I am easy set to dish out, but I will say that it is completely dependent on the customer." He looked around for service. "If a server might show up maybe I could get an order of fries for two." He shrugged. As the new face moved over to him and sat down he did find her mannerisms a bit odd.also she did have some appearance glitches from the norm. It wasn't like Matthias, but certainly still not quite human. He could sense an aura of conflict with in the new face, but not nearly as strong as a reverse soul.
"Ammy, huh. Well I will remember that one." He turned to the crowd behind them. "Tell me, Ammy. What do you think of this new world between monsters and humans?" He seemed to have no ill will on the surface towards any one person or monster in the restaurant, but something inside certainly did stir in his soul towards the idea in general.

She could feel him sizing her up, and felt the sharp edge of his soul as he examined her own, but it was not unexpected. If anything, it was somewhat refreshing to encounter someone with a modicum of both caution and curiosity.
His next words were... even more intriguing. She looked at him shrewdly, trying to determine how honestly she should answer, when they were (finally) interrupted by the server, a peppy rabbit-type monster.
"What can I get you folks today?" She said cheerfully, eyes bright.
Amaranthine sighed silently. Well, at least it would provide her with more time to ruminate over her answer.
"Fries for two, please. Also, would you be so kind as to inform Ser Flameo that since we no longer live in the underground, we don't have to eat like it? For all that is sacred, he could at least add some soda." She said weary.
It was far from the first time she had expressed the sentiment.
The monster nodded and jot down the order, looking perhaps a tad bit uncomfortable. Once she had left, Amaranthine turned her eerily bright gaze on the stranger once more.
"I think it is, in the long run, doomed to fail. Humanity will never learn to accept that which is different from them, and thinking that this will ever change is naive." She finally said, her expression carefully neutral as she watched for his reaction.

He looked up as the waitress took the order down. "Just water for me, I guess, no Ice." He eyed the crowd laughing, talking with each other and even others at different tables, and having a good time. "Some days I wish I had that naivety back." ... He sighed. "Then again we never had proper teachers to bring forth the messages that we needed to end those ways." He seemed plagued with a deep sadness and sense of pity. "These monster-folk... all they ever wanted was to come back here, but they have no idea... none at all about how much safer they were underground."
He looked at Amaranthine. "You mentioned something about not paying a price for conversation... I fear that monster-kind has yet to pay one for impeding on human territory once again... all of this good could be gone again in a flash... because of human ignorance and hatred." The vitriol of his unkind words spit out like acid about humanity. He then returned to his rather stoic and blank state. He looked back to the crowd. "None of them know what's coming... but ignorance is bliss. Sometimes I wish I was one of them." He checked the clock... he seemed alarmed about something.

Amaranthine nodded sadly.
"Believe me... I know much of human ignorance and hatred. Although I would never choose to return to being naive - if I didn't know the truth, then how would I know that I have to change it?" She shook her head with a strange smile. "Naivety is a weakness, however comfortable of one it might be." She popped a fry in her mouth, chewing slowly.
"You look like you need to get somewhere..." She said in an odd tone, watching him check his watch and then his strong reaction. "Is it particularly far away?"

He rested his arms on the table. "I appreciate that. Do you really mean it?" He certainly hoped so or tonight was going to end up getting a lot more awkward. He motioned her to get with in whisper distance. "Do you really want to help rid the world of this breed of humanity?"
He directed her focus to the doors. "I'm exactly where I need to be tonight, and exactly where I have to be to put a stop to humanity's folly. I have to ask you... are you willing to do the same?" He flashed her one of his knives... "By force if need be?" Once again he was quiet, but kept her attention on the doors. "In about fifteen minutes all of that archaic, human, anger and ignorance that took the monsters underground is about to walk through that door and show what it could do with our modern day technology and ammunition." He looked to her again. "So if you have somewhere else to be I understand, but if you choose to stay... they WILL make you part of their demonstration.. I for one don't particularly like to follow other people's examples... I make my own to follow."

I cursed colorfully under my breath.
"Godsdammit! I had heard murmurings in the criminal underground, which is why I've been staking this place out all day, but I had thought that if it was going to happen it already would have fucking happened! Just when it was starting to look like a peaceful evening too..." Without her realization, she slipped for a moment into archaic Norse, her tone enraged.
"I am with you, comrade."
Then going back into a modern tongue, she continued. "We need to get these people outside, minimize collateral damage. I have... passing familiarity with most of the monsters in here, I can get people to move. How much time do we have?"

Xander sighed... "It's not that simple... this attack isn't going to just stop here. They are targeting the whole quarter.. but if we do enough to hold them off at the start, maybe... just maybe we could halt their operation." He pointed out the back of the restaurant. "If they see anybody try to escape from either exit they are going to open fire on fleeing patrons... we have to let them start their attack and then quell it from the inside. We can't let this look like a set up or they will deviate from their plan of attack. It will cost the lives of every person and monster in this room."
He looked at the clock. "Ten minutes from now they will enter, then they will threaten the first person they see at the counter..." He smirked. "They will demand them move and set up their units inside. Then demand to see the Owner, Grillby." He pointed to the booths on the end. "I imagine if any of them have fire arms they are going to occupy the points in the corners towards the doors. Since they have cover from the outside to snipe anyone trying to escape they will let them only to be shot down like pigs lined up for slaughter." He looked to the employee only area. "There is probably an employee exit. Once our guests are dealt with we could probably let them out there to safety... but we are not done." He closed his eyes to think. "every fifteen minutes after that a new squad will come into a new store... until everything on the block is a nightmare scene."

"Guns. I hate guns. It was so much simpler when people just had sword and spears." She said grimly. "And if they think threatening Grillby is a good idea, they are not as bright as they probably want to think. Shit, this is going to get messy fast." She took a deep breath to calm herself, and started to plan as well.
"Yes, there is an employee exit - I have used it on occasion. Well, I suppose there is no point in keeping things quiet now. My power is teleportation, Red - and I am calling you Red because I still don't know your name, and while I don't mind that I do need to call you something. So I can phase back and forth between their fortified positions and raise hell without that much of a risk of getting shot. Sound like a plan?"

That was an odd thing to say. It had been a long time since people resorted to such primative weaponry. Course the guy with the combat knives had nothing to say against it. "You give them more credit than they deserve in my opinion. They don't care who Grillby is, just what he is. I doubt that Grillby getting killed is their main onjective meerly a bonus. They want to end lives... get a body count going... reinstate fear into the masses... restart the war." He closed his fist in anger... "And that's just typical of them..."
Xander snerked some "I've been called worse, trust me." He nodded in agreement. "Well it will certainly come in more handy than what I offer... let's just say a bit more of a brutish approach." He couldn't risk another war breaking out, it'd just impede on his own desires of finding more Reverse Souls. "Take out the sharp shooters in the corners like you said, then see what you could do about the snipers after you escort the patrons and employees. There is no telling if they have eyes out there too, but it might be our only chance to save these lives. Woman, Children, and young monsters first... the others might be able to assist us if willing. I'll work to see what I could do on that front once the hostiles are taken care of."
With that another five minutes ticked away and the room began to get thick with foreboding.

"Copy that." I replied. "I will take the civilians to the forest after the major threats are dealt with - it is close enough that it won't cause me any lethal strain, regardless of how many trips I need to take. I will probably have a hell of a headache tomorrow though." she said with a rueful chuckle.
She pulled out her phone. "I am going to send out a message for help on the Undernet. See if anyone with considerable firepower is in area, because shit is about to hit the fan." She did so and then tucked her phone back in her pocket. Her pointed ears twitched slightly, rustling her hair.
"Here they come... ready, Red?"

He smirked. "Well I didn't exactly show up for the "'burgs"... let's make this happen, Ammy."
Almost on cue a group of men and women entered the restaurant in a really synchronized fashion. Everything just spelled out as Xander had described. A pair of them stood near the juke box, two others split up and sat at the booths on each other corner. Then a group of three of them from the front door approached Xander and Ammy.
Xander rolled his neck and let out a breath.
"Hey kid... lemmie have your seat."
Xander looked to Ammy. It was about to begin.
"Here, let me help you..." The guy pulled Xander up and moved him aside as the guy pounded the counter. "Hey, Rabbit-lady... I wanna see the Manager."
Xander smirked. "Sure buddy... whatever you say." Xander reached behind him as the waitress went to the employee only area. He noticed that the guys at the one sitting down's sides also had their hands at their sides, anticipating an attack. Then it happened... As the door opened again the man sitting down produced a pistol from his jacket and aimed at it. Only to have his hand slashed by Xander on the ready. This obviously put all of the attention on him as the two people at the juke box produced guns of their own and opened fire on Xander and the crowd. Screaming erupted from terrified patrons as they hit the deck for cover.
