Quickly slipping into the void to avoid the bullets, Amaranthine reappeared behind the men at the juke box, and slit their throats before they could even scream with a dagger forged from the very fabric of the abyss.
"Two down!" She yelled with a slightly sadistic grin.
The bastards deserved it.
Then, the two humans at the booths raised their weapons to target her, and she sighed before slipping back into the void. They were a far deal more shielded, it would be tricky.

It put a smile on his face as he saw Ammy tear the two humans at the juke box apart. He liked her style already. Not to be out done Xander took out his other knife and slammed it under the jaw of the head anti-monster activist. He crumpled to the ground in a spray of blood and the sound of gargled screams.
Xander winced as gunfire from behind him struck him in the shoulder. He took cover behind to counter to regroup. The red trickled down his arm, but all he did was laugh... loudly. His Black soul crackled with energy. "Thanks... now let me return the favor." He flipped the knives in his hands. As he reemerged from behind the counter they found a new home in the chest of one of the two activists. Then he muscled the fading body of the one against the other serving as both a shield and an element of surprise. As the two activist's bodies connected the energy from his Soul distributed to his knives and it extended through both. As he withdrew the two knives they were now two short swords of pure, malignant, power. This drew attention from the two at the booths as Xander barely had enough time to flip a table to hide behind before a hail of gunfire came his way. He took another moment under cover as he actually struck his own wound to further charge his Dark Soul.

Having a sudden and likely outrageous idea, Amaranthine grinning in the darkness of the Void. She willed her blade to form a whip instead, and when she slipped back through... she did so on top of the table were the fools were taking cover. The guns turned fast enough for a bullet to graze her thigh, but no faster, and she wrapped her length of the whip around the barrel of the gun at her right, yanked it from his grip, and then slipping between worlds only to come down on top of the still armed man's head, smashing the stock into his skull. Unprotected, the other one screamed and ran, shouting "DEMON!"
She snorted, before yelling "Unarmed one coming your way, félagi!"

Xander stared down the fleeing activist. "You lot are capable of far worse than her..." He rushed to the man and took his legs out from under him. Xander than plunged his swords into the shoulders of the activist and the ground trapping him on his back. "You!... Call off the attack now!."
The man laughed and spat at Xander's feet. "You dirty, monster sympathizers are a disgrace to man kind."
Xander responded with a swift heel to his neck, crushing his trachea. The man gargled an attempt to breathe before his life faded away. "I'll consider that a badge of honor, you could keep your humanity."
He looked to Ammy. "About eight minutes before the next attack hits. You still down, Ammy?"
The entire restaurant was in shock as the two met triumphantly. Not an innocent life was lost and the only casualty was to Xander himself. "Let's get this lot to safety, then move on to the next target."

"Sounds good to me." She said. "I usually deal with stragglers making a mess of monster-business storefronts, the usual gang attack - this is great. It feels like I might actually accomplish something. Maybe if we kill enough of these wastes of air, the rest will start to realize that if they are going to push, we are going to push back. I will start dropped people in the forest." She grabbed the two nearest children tightly, knowing that there was no time for an explanation.
"Gather up their guns while I do this. Give them to anyone else who wants to make it clear that we won't be treated like this."

Xander nodded. He certainly wanted nothing to do with the guns. He moved to each body and gathered all seven pistols, then put them on the counter before focusing on the crowd.
"Alright, we haven't much time so I'll make this quick." He flipped up a chair that fell over and sat on it. "Please understand this not as a threat, but as a wake up call. This is not the first attack in this city, but it probably is the first time you've seen it."
A child looked to Xander. "You... you killed those people..."
He paused... he knelt to her level "They would have killed you instead."
She awkwardly looked at the blood coming from his shoulder. "You... you got... hurt."
He smiled. "And you didn't... I'll take that trade,"
He stood back up and focused back on the adults. "Today at least... but who knows who might get hurt next. So now I am going to ask you all if you are willing to do something about it, and see to it that these people know that there are people willing to stand against them."
No one was exactly rushing to join him. He sighed some. "You can't just continue to leave it up to someone else... one day there won't be anyone else." He nodded to Ammy. "Let's just try again in the next shop."

She watched him interact with the crowd, with that little girl, and something unexpected moved in her chest. Respect.
It has been... a very long time since I could respect another. She thought with mixed feeling, both sadness and hope blooming in her soul. Four of his words resounded with her in particular.
"I'll take that trade."
Because that was what her whole life had become, hadn't it? Taking the pain and suffering and hate so that others didn't have to. Taking the blood and the hits so that kids could look up at them with hope in their eyes.
She looked around for a moment, preparing to phase with her hands tight on the kids shoulders. She and Xander had been the only ones hit, though his wound was considerably worse than her own. Everyone else was safe.
It was more than she had expected.
Slipping from this world into the Void and then back, she reappeared on the edge of the forests surrounding the town with the shell-shocked kids. "I will bring your parents soon. Stay here." They nodded solemnly.
She went back and forth rapidly, the size of the group growing. Finally, the last one was away, and she reappeared in the bar empty but for Xander.
"I am ready, félasi."

Xander retrieved his knives and they returned to their more manageable short form. His soul still crackled with Black energy, waiting to be used again. "The next shop is conveniently next door. Some thrift shop owned by these two.... questionably trendy monsters. Bratty and Catty I believe their names were. Another original Underground, monster owned store. I bet they will be targeting them rather than the human or hybrid owned shops."
Xander moved about with Ammy to the next shop. It looked... interesting to say the least like someone filled a store with a garage sale. Things were stocked on shelves with no rhyme or reason to them with prices that were questionable to say the least. Still it looked like more of a super market with vertical lined aisles and a counter at the end. "We've got about five minutes or less until the next attack. You might want to escort the customers now before the party gets here." There weren't many in this store so that would be beneficial. There was one entrance in the center of the shop. There also wasn't as much open space for them to be attacked by multiple sides so that too was looking up for them.
Xander feigned any interest at all to get the attention of the dragon looking monster at the counter. "Hey, um lady... can you tell me about this." He grabbed the first thing he could put his hand on... some hub cap to a car it looked like. This allowed Ammy to start moving customers without much questioning by the owners.

Amaranthine snorted softly and rolled her eyes, but quickly began moving the customers. If there was enough time, she had a certain plan in regards to how to best use all this...junk. Once everyone else had been moved, she appeared silently behind the draconic cashier and phased her out as well, ignoring her yelp. The others already there from Grillby's could explain what was going on, she didn't have the time. Reappearing back in the store, she swayed slightly, steadying herself against a nearby shelf. The room spun for a moment before the world seemed to right itself once more.
"Whew, I haven't done that many trips in such quick succession for... a very long time. I am going to have one hell of a magic hangover tomorrow. Hey, do you want to rig these shelves to fall on them when they come in? That would be amusing - trash buried by junk."

Xander moved to check up on her. He helped her steady herself with a look of genuine concern. "Im... sorry, I didn't realize that it'd be that hard on you. This will be easy on you though. The next place we will resort to more personal measures of keeping patrons safe. Like hide them in the employee area or something.
Her proposal wasn't a bad one. "I don't know... will they be able to tell the difference when they come back?" He said with a smile.
Still part of the problem was one of them was leading the charge and needed to be "Persuaded" to call off the attack.
"Okay let's do that. Then I'll pose as the Store owner and when the leader comes at me, take out the rest."
They started the work of shelf rigging. Something in particular caught his eye... he painfully took the object from the shelf. His grip on the metal object caused his knuckles to whiten over and blood trickled from his palm. His soul charged with energy once more. Somehow darker than the crackling energy from his wound. "On second thought... maybe you should pose as the owner..." His eyes darkened.

"Eh, I am fine. Thanks for the hand. It just takes a lot more energy to move bodies over than my own, and I am out of practice. Don't worry, I am not going to pass out on you or anything. I can move the next batch too, I just... needed a moment to catch my breathe."
She snorted at his comment. "Probably not, I think it would take a tornado to make this place look notably different. Sounds like a good plan to me either way..." Her smirk faded when she saw him expression change, his hand gripped so tightly around an object she didn't recognize that blood dripping from it's edges. "Hey, you alright?"

He opened his hand and inside were a set of dog tags. The name inscribed on them was "Nathan Faust".
"I... never will be." It was far too complicated to explain without time before the next attack. "It doesn't matter..." He tossed the objects to the ground and dug them into the ground with his boot.
"Don't worry about the shelves. I got them covered to do what we need them to. Just get into position so they walk up to you and set the trap." He was little more than a husk as he waited for her to move to position. The energy building up seemed to be causing him more pain than the gunshot wound did.

She paused for a moment before simply nodded, but beneath her calm gaze lay curiosity. She seemed to simply move into position, but once he had moved as well she created a hand-like construct from the shadows surrounding her and carefully retrieved the scratched metal object from the ground and then disappeared. In a moment, she felt its weight settle in her back pocket, pulled through the void.
She would look at it later, when they weren't in the middle of an impromptu war.
Suddenly, the door swung open, revealing angry humans with no idea of the welcome they were about to receive.

It wasn't long before the host of the small group made it to the front of the store with two others at either side. Three from behind were making sweeping rounds up and down the aisles
"Hey, Lady... We need to speak to the managers... uh... about a purchase we made. It broke the moment we got home."
Suddenly a Cat shaped monster exited the back room in a huff. "Um... like... EXCUSE ME?!? We don't sell anything broken unless it came that way, and if it is it's TOTALLY clearly marked under the broken aisle."
Xander blinked as the new monster emerged. "Shit... We forgot to check the back room"
An activist shoved Xander from behind. "Hey, kid. Move to the back of the store."
Xander realized that he was moved by a higher power rifle then the first group had. That was not a blow even he could sustain. "Sure thing... buddy... let me just grab my-" Xander turned the activist so his back was to the first Shelf. "Thanks, I needed something heavy to set this off." He smirked as the energy he had been holding onto released from his soul like a wave of pure energy, knocking the activist clear up and through the fir5st shelf, causing the domino effect that they had been hoping for. The two still roaming the aisles were crushed and buried between them.
Unfortunately for Xander all cover the shelves gave him was gone and the two activists with the front guy aimed a flurry of bullets in his direction. He had no choice, but to move up the aisle to try to escape. Even then he let out a groan as a shot grazed him and fell to the ground in a thud.
"You two monster scum are next" the head guy aimed his own weapon at them and prepared to fire. "It's a shame more people aren't here to see this."

Amaranthine dodged the falling debris easy by phasing between worlds and reappearing behind the desk, irritated at the new turn of events.
How foolish of them not to think of checking the employee area...
Suddenly, realized the predicament her comrade was in, she let out a feral snarl and tackled the main activist, ignoring the feeling of a bullet lodging itself in her thigh as her claws tore through his jugular in a fountain of crimson. She then phased, grabbed Xander, phased again to grab the monster, and reappeared on the edge of the forest.
"Quick... tactical retreat." She wheezed, letting go of them both and wiping a trickle of blood from her nose. "You need...range, Red." She pulled out on of the handguns from earlier that she had stowed in her backpack, and handed it to him, along with a clip of bullets. "It will hurt the ones who brought it just as badly as it hurt you, thankfully. Maybe more if you have better aim." She joked, trying to lighten the mood.
"We have the element of surprise again - ready to go back, félasi? Or do you want a moment to catch you breath?" She asked, looking with concern at his wounds as she torn a strip from her own t-shirt to wrap around her leg.
Actually removing the damn bullet could come later...
