Vi Lawson
The Basics
♥ Character Name: Vi Lawson
♥ Age: 27
♥ Gender/Pronouns: Female
♥ Species: Hybrid (Water Element)
♥ Occupation: Jeweler and Cashier
♥ Faceclaim(optional): Levy McGarden from Fairy Tail
Vi stands just under 5’2” and weighs around 115lbs. Her figure has a curvy hourglass shape to it with light muscle toning her body. The skin on her is quite pale in pigment, but not quite pale enough to be considered unhealthy. In fact, she looks just as healthy as any other individual.
Her hair is a bright blue in colour. It is not very long when it is down, ending just mere inches past her shoulders. Usually she will keep it pulled back with a bandana to keep it away from her face. When it's down, her bangs will come out in front and over her forehead, partially covering her hazel eyes.
Vi likes to wear things that stand out. Her outfits are a healthy mix of vibrant, interesting, and a pinch of girly. She has to look interesting for her customers, after all.
Strengths/Abilities
- Nothing about her appearance outright sets off the notion that she is a hybrid besides her bright blue hair.
- Being the daughter of a water element, Vi can manipulate water particles into any shape she desires. She can also use it for attacks, since the power of water can be quite devastating when there is enough force behind it.
- Vi can think up a quick plan to get her out of a tough situation really quick.
- She can sing really well, and does so on a regular basis either to herself or during small shows at local coffee shops (a great example of her singing is
Shatter Me, Nightstep version by Lindsey Stirling ft. Lzzy Hale).
- Since she writes her own short songs, Vi's pretty good at writing and reading and loves doing both.
- She did some ballet as a child up until her pre-teens, and knows how to put in modern dancing with her graceful ballet. This also means she's agile on her feet and doesn't trip often.
- Vi loves making clothing and jewellery to wear for herself, and is very skilled at it too. This is how she makes her business with the help of her mother (and occasionally her father).
Inabilities/Weaknesses
- Vi cannot generate her own water. It has to come from another water source.
- Closed in spaces are not something Vi's comfortable with, and will eventually freak out if in a tight enough area.
- Another fear she has is a fear of porcelain dolls. She's watched a total of one horror movie with those creepy glass things and now they're nightmare fuel for her.
- Cold climates are not good for Vi. Being water based, she succumbs to the frigid cold faster than a regular person.
- Some people may not take her seriously when she's being angry or serious. She'll end up looking 'cute' as some people say.
- She can be a little reckless sometimes. This can get her into trouble, get her injured, ooorrr has a risk of actually ending her life.
Personality
For the most part, Vi's a bubbly and animated young woman with loads of ambition and kindness in her big heart. She's nice to those who are nice to her, and doesn't let anyone step all over her like a step stool. This mentality can cause her to be a bit reckless and stubborn to prove some brute wrong about her not being able to do something or what have you. She can also be pretty blunt too at some moments, calling people out on their stupidity or illogical decisions ... which can also land her in trouble if she calls out the wrong person.
Again though, for the most part Vi's a sweetheart and would be a lovely friend to have at your side
and a pretty adorable enemy to have too.
Life Story
Vi's father, Leau, never made it into the underground when every monster was banned inside of Mt. Ebott. Instead he spent the majority of his time travelling the water, him being a water element and able to blend into it with ease. Only some people caught glimpses of his existence, but one woman was lucky enough to be able to get to know the pretty water man.
That woman's name was Noreen, and she frequented one of the beaches in San Francisco where Leau often made appearances. They would talk for hours, go on small dates, and eventually have that moment in life that creates something special.
This special creation was named Vi when she was born.
At first there was nothing really special about Vi. She had blonde hair and hazel eyes just like her mother, showing no real relation to the water-based monster (much to both of their relief). As she grew, she became interested in making crafts and such like her mother did for a small business in the city. She also took enjoyment in writing short songs for her parents, and would sing to them when all three of them had time to be with Leau without being caught. Vi also decided to take up a bit of dancing (more specifically ballet) as well, and that turned out to be pretty fun for her and she continued until her early teens before the studio had to shut down. She continued dancing on her own after that.
It wasn't until Vi hit puberty when she started showing the monster side of her. Really the only changes to her appearance were the ever rapid-changing hair colour from blonde to blue. Since it was normal for teens to dye their hair in outrageous colours, it didn't bother human society. What
really made it hard for her was when she started showing signs of water manipulation. First it would be small, hardly noticeable things like moving small drops of water. But then it became bigger, like whole blobs of water randomly following the girl home from school.
Leau managed to teach Vi to control her manipulation to keep it at bay, not wanting his sweet daughter to get in trouble for something that wasn't her fault to begin with. Once that was under control, Vi began leading a 'normal' life again.
It was just after graduation when she started working with her mother in the crafting business, which was also around the time the monsters were slowly becoming a part of human society. Vi thought it was great! She could finally be who she was without ridicule or harassment, and slowly people found out about her and who her father really was. Some people didn't mind it, some people thought it was freaking
awesome, and those that didn't were completely ignored because she didn't care about them.
Now Vi continues to work with her mother at their little shop,
Water Lilly Accessories, along with her father who's now able to be in public without mostly getting socially outcasted. On the side Vi does a little singing and writing.
Sample Roleplay
"Mom, mom look!" Vi's voice could be heard in the bathroom, sounding rather excited for someone who woke up for school at 7:30 in the morning.
Her mother came racing into the bathroom, nearly tripping over the cat before halting at the door with a huff to her breath.
"What? What is---" Noreen stopped her question short when she saw what her daughter was gesturing at. Blue roots had started streaking down what was blonde hair, and Vi was more that ecstatic about it.
"Now I won't have to dye my hair all the time! Look! Isn't it pretty~?" A brighter smile formed on the girl's face to her mother, making Noreen pull a smile herself.
She supposed she would worry about the blue hair at a later time. Her daughter seemed to like it, and she had no doubts that her friends at school would love it too. "It looks wonderful, dear." she said as she went over to look in the mirror with her. Vi was shorter than her mother, but that wouldn't last for long. Soon they'd be the same height, and both Noreen and Vi were okay with that.
"You should get ready for school," Noreen began again after a while of looking at their reflections. "Wouldn't want to miss the bus, now would we?"
Vi shook her head and tied her hair back, her smile never leaving her face. "Oh no of course not! I have practice today with the singing club. I would never miss that!" She gracefully hopped off of the stool she stood on before heading out to have her breakfast.
Noreen chuckled. "Even I wasn't that excited for school ..." she murmured in amusement before belatedly following her daughter to join her in the kitchen.
