I'm not ready for this to end. I'm not ready for you to leave. Asriel, oblivious to the inner monologue inside Adam's mind, had never even considered himself any threat. Sure, he'd entertained the idea, but there were plenty more handsome men... and women who she would probably like better. Besides, he was still dealing with the dysphoria that came with being human now. He had a lot of stuff to work through.
"Nice to meet you, Adam." He said at last with a polite smile. He tapped at his phone to keep busy while listening to any conversation that ensued.
When the lights dimmed, he frowned. "Well, that's not normal." He said, seeming to confirm what everyone was worried about. Probably just an electronic malfunction. Just what this commute needed. More delays. At the next stop, he wondered if they conductor would make them get off. He could only hope that the weather had cleared up enough to get buses going again.

After a moment, the lights were back to normal and everything was fine. Frisk relaxed back into her seat and continued to talk to the other two. [break][break] "Just a malfunction. Okay, that's cool. I can deal with that." She laughed softly, about to mention how she met Asriel to Adam when all of a sudden, the lights in the train went completely dark. Frisk gasped in surprise and was about to speak again, but she was drowned out by a loud screeching of brakes as the train suddenly started to halt. Everyone in the train car was thrown forward by the change in momentum, Frisk included. [break][break] "Ahh!!" Frisk tumbled out of her seat, landing on the floor of the car where she grabbed onto a nearby pole to hold herself in place while the train continued to decelerate until it came to a total stop. Then all was quiet and dark. Frisk quickly reached into her pocket and pulled out her phone, turning on the screen as a flashlight and looking around. [break][break] "Is everyone okay?"

a grim commute tomorrow will be different from today Still looking around nervously after the lights flickered, Anya was only mildly shocked when the lights in the train went completely dark. She let go of the hand hold she was holding with her left hand to fish out her phone for light and, as a result, only had one hand on the grip when the train screeched to a halt. The momentum tore her hand from the handle and she went careening forward, feeling herself fall into someone else.
"Ow! Sorry, sorry," she muttered hurriedly as a she pulled herself to her feet. "I....ugh...I didn't mean to fall on you." She honestly had no idea why she was apologizing--it wasn't like this was her fault. But years of being meek and submissive weren't about to go away just because something wasn't her fault. After a moment, the girl who had been sitting near her pulled out her own phone for light and Anya closed her eyes shut, blinded by the sudden light after several seconds of complete darkness."Are you okay?" she asked the person she'd tumbled into.

As the train stopped dead on the tracks, Adam was nearly thrown out of his seat by the momentum, and soon felt someone land on him. When he regained his composure, he decided it was a good time to try out a new trick he was working on, a sort of night-vision created by his dark magic. Same functionality, but it wouldn't amplify light, just allow him to see within the darkness around him like a sixth-sense of sorts. Of course, his eyes began to glow as he used this, and when the light from Frisk's phone hit his face, Adam recalled that he had forgot to tell her that he was a hybrid. "Okay, I know you're probably going to be like 'why didn't you tell me you were a hybrid?' But can that wait until we're NOT stuck underground in a big tin can with the lights out?" Adam got up from his seat, being careful not to step on or trip over any of the other passengers as he looked around the subway for any sign of what caused the train to stop. "No way this is some freak power outage. Keep your eyes peeled." (( Asriel ))

I'm not ready for this to end. I'm not ready for you to leave. Asriel didn't fare much better in the train stop. It pushed him forward, making him hit his head on the safety handle on the seat in front of him. He groaned and blinked to curb the dizziness. He heard Frisk plop out of her seat as he rubbed the spot on his forehead. "Oh shoot..." He squinted in the phone light as he reached down to help Frisk stand up.
He glanced up, catching sight of Adam's eyes. Huh. Seemed hybrids were more common than he thought. He wasn't sure where he fit between humans and monsters. It wasn't the time to care. Frisk and Adam seemed okay. Even the girl standing next to them was alright... For the most part. Was that everyone left on the train? Once everyone was on their feet, Asriel shuffled around to the door and grabbed the emergency exit handle. Try as he might, no amount of force could release the hatch. He tried until his palms were red, but nothing worked. "Damn... Hopefull the transport authority will be around to help soon."

Frisk rubbed her hip a little where she hit the floor quite hard, before taking Asriel's hand and standing to her feet. Everyone seemed okay at least. She nodded in thanks to her friend and watched as Adam's eyes suddenly started to glow. She seemed a little surprised, but in no way frightened or disappointed. "It's okay, I don't mind. It's definitely a conversation for when we're not trapped..." [break][break] "Okay, there's definitely something strange going on... Everyone seems alright though, so that's good. I thought subways had like... emergency lights or something that would come on in situations like this?" She glanced around the car, and there definitely were lights marked as emergency lights, but they weren't coming on. With a worried look, she turned her cellphone around to look at the screen. "No cell service either I guess that's to be expected since we're underground." [break][break] Frisk began pacing back and forth when she suddenly stepped in something wet. She scrunched her nose a little, lifting her boot a few inches off the floor before shining her light on the substance. Thick and red... Pooling out from under the empty seats nearby. That's when she noticed a pair of lifeless eyes staring out from under them. Her eyes widened in shock as she covered her mouth, trying not to scream. Someone else screamed instead.

a grim commute tomorrow will be different from today Anya watched through the dim light of the girl's phone as the young man with goat horns attempted the emergency exit to no avail, and bit her lip worriedly. That meant they were trapped, and she wasn't sure if these things were air-tight and, if so, how much air they had. At the young woman's musings about emergency lights, she looked up and sure enough, there were emergency lights that were failing to come on. Her face scrunched in confusion, Anya pulled her phone out to call 911 just as the young woman mentioned a lack of cell service and, true to form, her phone also had no signal.
Closing her eyes and trying not to panic, Anya took a few deep, calming breaths. She opened her eyes when she heard what sounded like someone stepping in a puddle--definitely not something she'd expect to hear in a subway car. She took in the horror on the young woman's face before following her gaze and spotting the lifeless eyes under the train seats.
Anya screamed.

Adam nearly jumped out of his own skin when Anya screamed. He looked down, noticing the pool of blood. He didn't need to see the body, he knew what Anya had seen. "Son of a b****!" While he never took a life in his time as a vigilante, there were times when Adam was unable to save everyone, whether they were criminal, cop, or civilian. Death still wasn't easy for him to see, but there wasn't anything he could do for the victim but bring the killer to justice. The murder confirmed Adam's suspicions, this power outage was planned, but why? What motive would there be for someone to kill the power throughout the train and start taking lives? He looked to the others, holding a finger to his mouth, signaling them to be quiet. He needed to concentrate for the night vision to work, otherwise he wouldn't be able to find the killer and they would end up like the poor soul beneath the seats. (( Asriel ))

I'm not ready for this to end. I'm not ready for you to leave. Asriel flicked his hands after giving up on the door to soothe the pain of squeezing the handle. "Shit!" He hissed, turning in time to hear Anya's scream. It startled him into looking in the direction of the light's beam as he grabbed Frisk's arm. Not for her sake at first, but for his own. He'd seen dead humans before. Many of them by his hand... er, leaf. He supposed that was what made it startling. He was so used to being the culprit that a part of him wondered if he actually was the killer. It only took a few seconds to assure himself that it was impossible. That wasn't going to look great in the media though. He was trying to clear his name, not smear it deeper in the dirt.
Since the light was focused on the apparent corpse and not Adam, he did not see the Finger of Silence. "Someone's trying to get our attention... Or at least Frisk's." He mused, looking around to see if the signature golden flowers were present. He couldn't see much outside the flash light's range. He took out his phone, took several pictures with the flash on of the body, the car, and just about every angle he could think above and below the seats. He flashed one or two of the windows to see the tunnel outside. Once he'd taken enough, he flicked through them. "Anyone see anything?" He asked, holding his phone out so a number of people could see as well if they stood near him.
Sorry everyone! Forgot it was my turn @n@

"Okay.. Okay.. Everyone just stay calm. Does anyone recognize this person? I don't remember seeing them in the train car with us..." Frisk was shaking a little, but she tried her best to remain calm. Whatever was happening was linked to her. Whoever was causing these murders was getting braver. [break][break] "It's easy for you to say! I recognize you! You're that monster sympathizer! The little girl who suddenly appeared all over the news when the monsters were freed!" An older woman suddenly spoke, pointing her finger at Frisk. "She's just fronting for one of her monster friends! It's them who did this!" The other humans on the train started whispering amongst themselves, backing away from Frisk and any monsters that were riding the train. [break][break] "What?! No way! Can't you see? The monsters aren't to blame! Someone is trying to frame them for this!"

"Who else could have done it?" Suddenly, a man spoke up from the back corner of the crowd. Ivan stepped forward, gazing down at the corpse that was stuffed beneath the seats. "It wasn't there when we boarded. Someone would have surely noticed. That seat is across from the door." He spoke cooly, crossing his arms across his chest as he gazed at Frisk, eyeing her reactions. "A human would have trouble moving silently in a crowded train, let alone have time to murder someone, and hide the body whilst the train was screeching to a halt. Monsters have magic, they could have easily done something like that." All the humans in the train nodded their heads and whispered in agreement to the purple haired man. "The evidence is stacked against you." MADE BY VEL OF GS AND ADOXOGRAPHY 2.0

a grim commute tomorrow will be different from today Anya's horror turned to rage as the old woman started blaming monsters with no basis other than racism. Just as she opened her mouth to tell the woman to shut up, the purple-haired man spoke, throwing logic into the mic. Anya stood there for a moment, thinking hard of a rebuttal, before answering.
"So what if it was a monster?" she asked the car at large. "You don't blame all of humanity for John Wayne Gacy, or Jack the Ripper, do you? Why blame an entire species for the actions of one or two?" She glared around at the woman and the purple-haired man. "Not all monsters are evil. Just like not all humans are good. The sooner people realize that the happier we'll all be."
Realizing she'd gotten up on her soapbox again, Anya took a breath to calm herself, then said, "Besides. We're all trapped here together, there's no sense in throwing blame around. Best to just wait calmly and quietly until the police get here."

"She's right, playing the blame game won't help us find out who did this. Unless someone actually has to say something other than the typical bigotry, why don't you all just sit and wait for emergency services to get here?" Adam then turned his attention to the purple-haired man, the look on his face making it clear that he didn't particularly like him. "And as for you, do you have any real evidence that it was a monster? How do you know the poor soul wasn't offed by a human and stuffed down there when the lights went out?.... You know what, don't answer... I can tell just by looking at you that you don't have any evidence. You're just another racist a$$hole who starts blaming monsters whenever things go bad. Scum like you isn't worth talking to. You're not worth my time. But if you keep talking bad about my friend, it's not gonna end well for you." Adam then knelt down and reached under the seat, trying to pull the corpse out from underneath. First thing that needed to be done was to examine the body for clues as to how they died and who killed them. However, his night-vision was disrupted by the aggravating whispers of bigotry uttered by the humans who sided with the purple-haired prick. He dispelled the night-vision and turned to Frisk. "Shine the light over here." (( Asriel ))

I'm not ready for this to end. I'm not ready for you to leave. Asriel was used to the mean words from people. It didn't bother him anymore. They were just scared. Part of him felt like he deserved to hear them. Most of the cruel things Flowey said to other people were still a part of him. He just said them to himself instead.
When the other people on the train started to speak up, he rolled his eyes. They were all trapped on this car together. He doubted shouting acusations would help the situation in the slightest. It only made people mad. He rubbed his own face, starting to feel a bit anxious. "Monster magic doesn't work like that. Your average monster can't just kill a human with a single spell." Even his father needed a lot of magic to take the children's souls long ago. It would be almost impossible to pull off on a crowded train without someone noticing. At least... as far as he knew.

Commutes. Crowded situations. Downtown. Meh, it was a lot of things this lazybones didn't care for. Something about the place was making him feel uneasy though. If there was something he would rather do, it was nothing. Literally. Admittedly, that'd be the same answer for a lot of questions involving "Do you want to go/do ___?". Still, he had to do something about this. Half the only promise he found himself to keep and half out of true fear of what was to come.
* I h e a r d t h a t s o m e t h i n g w a s g o i n g o n h e r e . . .
A sudden cello of a voice echoed lightly throughout the cab of the train. It was odd, seeing this blue and black coat wearing skeleton man pop out from seemingly nowhere near the closed door. Out in the dark. Most probably couldn't see him until someone flashed light on him. Beady white eyes in his sockets scanned the train and its people.
* and i wish i could have came around sooner, but ya know me kid. always have more important things like, uh, not being stuck inside of shut down trains.
That familiar voice was directed at Frisk by the sounds of it. Sans's eyes traced over the body with some look of hesitance. The skeleton dropped his jokey demeanor at that point, mostly just looking uneasy.
* with... a dead human on board. umm, this is awkward.
With the knowledge of what was going on between the general populace and monsters in the city, lazybones looked back up at the crowd of humans on the opposite end of the train. This probably didn't look good.
